Bridges

Bridges are one way of replacing a missing tooth, or teeth, and, unlike dentures, are fixed in place using adjacent healthy teeth for support. The chosen supporting teeth (usually two but sometimes just one in cantilever bridges) are prepared to take the bridge and an impression is taken of them using a mouldable material which is sent to the technician. On a second appointment, the bridge is 'glued' into place.

A bridge almost lets you forget that you have missing teeth. It can improve the way you look, bite, chew and speak. The teeth can be matched to the colour of your own teeth. Provided it is cared for a bridge can last many years and helps protect the adjacent and opposing teeth from tilting and moving out of line. Alternatives to bridgework are implants and partial dentures.
