Most modern dental practices utilise the services of a Dental Hygienist. Their
job is to carry out prolonged scaling and polishing, offer intense oral hygiene
instruction, give dietary advice in relation to oral health, and direct patients
into using the most appropriate oral hygiene aids, e.g. floss, mouthwash,
electric toothbrush, etc. Hygienists are also able to recement crowns, place
temporary dressings, fissure seal vulnerable teeth.
One of our Hygienists, Joanna, is now also a Dental Therapist, providing simple restorative work for adults and children.
Regular hygiene visits will provide the best chance to avoid gingivitis and gum disease (periodontitis), and halitosis (bad breath). If you have severe discolouration/staining of your teeth, we may advice you to try our Air-Flow Treatments during your appointment.
At CGDP we have both male and female Hygienists, and appointments are available on Mondays, Fridays and every other Saturday morning.
They are backed up by a comprehensive range or oral hygiene aids available
at the reception desk.
