4 benefits of smiling you didn’t know
10th May 2016
From 16th May to 16th June is National Smile Month, a campaign launched to help promote good oral health. Now, we know that we tell you about how to take care of your pearly whites quite a bit, over here on our blog, Facebook & on Twitter (follow us if you don’t already), so this post will tell you 4 benefits of smiling!
1. Smiling makes you happy
When you smile, the muscles trigger the release of endorphins or happy hormones, which helps to lower stress levels. Even fake smiling works just as well as the real thing, as the brain can’t differentiate between a real and fake smile. Smiling also acts as the body’s natural pain killers, so the next time you cut yourself making the dinner, smiling can help as a pain management. Laugh it off!
2. Laughing is actually exercise
Ever laughed so much, your stomach hurts? It’s the best feeling but it also causes the muscles in your stomach to expand and contract and give you an abs workout!
3. Smiling is attractive
Apparently someone’s smile is one of the first things we notice. Smiling makes you more approachable, which means interaction with others is easier and more enjoyable when smiles are shared. Smiling not only helps on a date but also at work or at a job interview, as it shows a relaxed persona, confidence and an ability to cope well in stressful situations.
4. Laughing can release your emotions
A good old laugh can help you to release emotions, especially if you bottle them up inside. Everything looks that little bit better after a good laugh!
