FAQs about Invisalign
17th January 2018
Invisalign is one of the most popular brace around! It straightens your smile by using a series of clear removable aligners, which gently guide your teeth into position. Our Invisalign provider, Dr Reena Ali (our principal dentist), always covers the details of your treatment at your initial consultation, but simply to familiarise yourself with the ins and outs of Invisalign, here are a few of the most common questions we get.
What are the benefits of Invisalign?
Inviaslign aligners are virtually invisible, so people may not even notice that you’re wearing them unless you tell them. They also work around your lifestyle as they’re removable, so you have the flexibility to eat and drink what you like during the treatment, as long as you wear them for a minimum of 22 hours per day.
How do the aligners straight teeth?
You’re given a set of aligners at the beginning of your treatment and each aligner will make slight adjustments to the tooth position, which is a process that is mapped out in advance.
How long is the treatment?
The length of treatment depends on your case, however the average for adults is around 12 months but can be as little as a few months!
Is it painful?
Generally, Invisalign doesn’t hurt, however you may experience some discomfort or pressure for the first few days of each new aligner. However, this is nothing to worry about – it just means that it’s working!
How do you clean the aligners?
Keeping your aligners clean is really simple. Just brush them with a toothbrush and rinse with lukewarm water.
Is it just for teenagers?
While many people associated braces with teens, you may be surprised to know that they’re incredibly popular with our adult patients! Providing you’re suitable for treatment, Invisalign is suitable for all ages and as they’re so discreet the interruption to your daily work and social life will be very minimal. Aside from taking your aligners out for eating and drinking, you can more or less carry on as normal!
Please note: all new patient bookings will require a £60 deposit.
